PRH Audio Represents Nearly Half of Audible’s “Best of the Year So Far” List

By Ashley Verrill | June 21 2024 | AdultChildren'sGeneralRetailer Resources

Last week, Audible released their “Best of the Year So Far” list and we are happy to announce that Penguin Random House Audio represents 11 of the 24 selected audiobooks – nearly half! Regarding the news, Maren Monitello, VP, Imprint Sales Director, shared that PRH was “delighted to have such a strong showing on Audible’s Best of the Year So Far list.” Truly, it speaks to PRH Audio’s “depth and quality of publishing” that one publisher has represented nearly half of the selections. Sarah Jaffe, PRH Audio Senior Executive Producer, who produced an impressive 4 of the 11 selections (Wandering Stars, Martyr!, There’s Always This Year, and Knife) added that “each of the books on this list are vastly different, but they all share the kind of clear, true, creative, powerful writing that made me want to get in to publishing in the first place, and it’s an honor to bring them to listeners in the intimacy of the audio format.”

Please join us in saluting our colleagues at PRH Audio, and celebrating this wonderful news!

From Booker Prize winner Salman Rushdie, a searing, deeply personal account of enduring—and surviving—an attempt on his life thirty years after the fatwa that was ordered against him. Knife is Rushdie at the peak of his powers, writing with urgency, with gravity, with unflinching honesty. It is also a deeply moving reminder of literature’s capacity to make sense of the unthinkable, an intimate and life-affirming meditation on life, loss, love, art—and finding the strength to stand up again.

When Lauren returns home to her flat in London late one night, she is greeted at the door by her husband, Michael. There’s only one problem—she’s not married. She’s never seen this man before in her life. But according to her friends, her much-improved decor, and the photos on her phone, they’ve been together for years.

As Lauren tries to puzzle out how she could be married to someone she can’t remember meeting, Michael goes to the attic to change a lightbulb and abruptly disappears. In his place, a new man emerges, and a new, slightly altered life re-forms around her. Realizing that her attic is creating an infinite supply of husbands, Lauren confronts the question: If swapping lives is as easy as changing a lightbulb, how do you know you’ve taken the right path? When do you stop trying to do better and start actually living?
