Edwin Honig was an American poet, playwright, and translator. He was the recipient of awards from the 1948 Guggenheim Fellowship, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters, and of two knighthoods, from Portugal and Spain, for his work in literary translation. He taught at Harvard University and Brown University, where he started the graduate writing program and was an emeritus professor. He died in 2011.
