Every year, the popular book-logging and book-reviewing platform Goodreads, owned by Amazon, releases its round of nominated books. According to Goodreads’ eligibility criteria, the site “analyzes statistics from the millions of books added, rated, and reviewed on Goodreads to nominate 20 books in each category.”
Nominations are assorted in categories. This year’s categories are altered from the previous year’s. Where Graphic Novels & Comics; Poetry; and Middle Grade & Children’s were recognized in the year prior, those categories are not included in this year’s. An added category this year is Romantasy, a growing hybrid genre recognizing Rebecca Yarrow’s Fourth Wing popularity.
This year, we are congratulating four Penguin Random House titles awarded this year, with Emily Henry retaining her Romance category for her work on Happy Place for the third year in a row.
