A Sneak Peek at Netflix’s ALTERED CARBON series

Netflix has announced a February 2 premiere date for their new sci-fi series ALTERED CARBON, based on Richard K. Morgan’s 2003 novel of the same name.

Set 300 years in the future, ALTERED CARBON introduces an advanced human society that has spread throughout the galaxy. Through improvements in technology, a person’s consciousness can be stored and routinely downloaded into a new body, making death little more than an inconvenience. Takeshi Kovacs’ has been killed before, but his last death was particularly brutal. Sent across light years of space, re-sleeved into a new body, and thrown into the center of a conspiracy that is vicious even by the standards of a society that has forgotten how to value “life,” he soon realizes that the shell that blew a hole in his chest was only the beginning of his problems.

The ten-episode Netflix adaptation is created by Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island, Terminator Genisys) and stars Joel Kinnaman (Suicide Squad, Robocop), James Purefoy (Rome, The Following, A Knight’s Tale), and Tony Award Winner Renee Elise Goldsberry (Hamilton, The Good Wife, Ally McBeal).
