International Day of Music for Elementary Education

By Gabriela Capodieci | September 29 2026 | Elementary Education

International Music Day is a celebration of one of humanity’s most universal languages: music. Moving across cultures, generations and even languages, music is a timeless art that can be enjoyed by a widespread audience. Whether the harmony is filled with emotional lyrics, or a collaboration of instruments, music acts as an important vehicle for connecting people across the globe.

Furthermore, books can help us deepen this connection as they invite readers to go beyond the lyrics and melodies of songs. International Music Day, celebrated October 1st, is an ideal time to acknowledge not only the music we love, but also the stories that bring them to life.

Titles about music can be viewed here.

Additionally, in celebration of the Brightly Storytime YouTube channel’s 10-year anniversary, is the release of their first ever music video “Read Together”. This joyous MV is perfect for celebrating a musical-filled day!
