On July 30th, we celebrate the International Day of Friendship, a day proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2011. The UN General Assembly says, “that friendship between peoples, countries, cultures and individuals can inspire peace efforts and build bridges between communities.”
Friendships play a crucial role in personal development. They provide emotional support, help build social skills, and contribute to academic success. In middle and high school friendships help promote a more positive and inclusive school community and can be a safe space for students to express themselves.
International Friendship Day is excellent opportunity for students to learn about and celebrate friendships with peers from different cultures.
