International Day of Friendship for Elementary Education

By Gabriela Capodieci | July 30 2026 | Elementary EducationEducation

On July 30th, we celebrate the International Day of Friendship, a day proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2011.

The International Day of Friendship, celebrated annually on July 30th, is a day that highlights the importance of building and maintaining connections between our communities and peers. Friendship is an integral part of a young child’s personal development, as they build key SEL skills that help boost their confidence when being introduced into new social situations.

Furthermore, this day highlights a variety of friendships. Both inside and outside the classroom, even cross cultural where language barriers may play a role in communicating efficiently. The main takeaway is that we learn to appreciate our friends from anywhere and everywhere.
